Hey! I'm a sub-adult Kemp's Ridley sea turtle. I measure 52.8 cm in curved carapace (shell) length and I was rehabilitated by the Florida Aquarium, in Tampa, Florida.

I was named Tampa Red by my sponsors, the Tampa Bay Green Consortium and the Florida Aquarium because I was injured by red tide in the Gulf of Mexico. Red tide is an algal bloom that produces toxins which can be harmful to sea turtles, fish, birds, and other marine animals.

A satellite transmitter will be applied to my shell when I'm healthy enough to be released back into the ocean. Check out my migration map, where you can follow along as I swim.

I'm swimming to raise awareness about the threat of Boat Strikes, one of the leading causes of injuries to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
