I'm Cruz, an adult green sea turtle from Tortuguero, Costa Rica. Tortuguero is the most important nesting site of the endangered green sea turtle in the Western Hemisphere. I was encountered nesting on July 6, 2013. I measured 95.3 cm in straight carapace (shell) length.

A satellite transmitter was applied to my shell after I finished nesting. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim.

I was named by my Sponsor, Shark Reef Aquarium, after Billy Cruz, the first vice president of Sea Turtle Conservancy and an environmental pioneer in Costa Rica. I'm swimming to raise awarness about the threat of Adult Harvest for Meat Consumption to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
